The actual "middle class" has never really constituted the majority anywhere. They're the doctors, lawyers, accomplished IT professionals, certain tradespeople etc; the "cream" between working class and ruling class. People's who's education, family cultural capital and inherited assets have enabled them to establish passive incomes essentially derived from the working class through investment. They are not dependent on the sale of their labor by the hour from week to week, month to month; a hand to mouth survival. (Warning, side rant, or heaven forbid, charge a morbidly obese person two fairs for taking up two seats).
