The stakeholder theory has continued to gain support and momentum by major corporations and businesses around the world. Led by John Mackey of Whole Foods, W.L. Gore company, Procter and Gamble, and dozens of others. Darden Univeristy, MIT, Harvard, Thunderbird and others held a summit in May of 2009 about the nature of capitalism as presented by business schools.

Much of the thrust of the model can be found in the 2007 book "Firms of Endearment". It showed stakeholder model companies outperformed Jim Collins' Good To Great companies by 3 to 1 (stock price) in the 10 year period ending July 31, 2006. These companies are still leading their relative markets and sectors.

We are in, and long for, a more "closely knit" world where the last part of this FEE essay says the stakeholder model may fit best. That is the world I want. What kind does FEE want?
