Actually, McConnel’s suggestion is politically shrewd. If Obummer does it without Congressional approval and the inevitable failure of the fiat system happens anyway….Who is to blame? Politically, it is a total defeat for the Obummer administration and democratic reelection potential.

Takes the heat off of the GOP.

Carl, in some weird ways, I agree with you. recent history shows us that the President\’s actions appear to grow more careless as the final term nears an end. I suspect that the reason for the 22nd\’s addition was the fear that a continuous pseudo-monarchy could be established if the \"sovereign\" accepted the President\’s continued tenure as the norm (and made elections moot…or, if elections in modern America aren\’t already moot, at least less meaningful than they are now).

Sure, we shouldn\’t legislate out of fear; fear generally has no evidence to support its existence (much like our lack of experience with 3 or more termed Presidents is non-existent). To do away with the 22nd would be to have an increased faith in the intelligence of our common man to recognize when a President becomes a tyrant (our recent history doesn\’t give us any evidence to support that faith either).
