I am the proud owner of Avant-Garde Logistics since September 2007. It is a home based company, and I not only the owner but also the single employee. I specialize in ground (by truck)transportation to and from Canada and the United States of America. I have been in the industry for 22 years and counting. I am a 38 year old single women trying to make a difference for myself. I'll try to explain my situation to the best of my abilities... In September 2008, my largest customer started playing with their payments. They'd say that a check would be ready at the of the week . no check.. From time to time, I would receive check but not enough to cover even that 1 past week of shipping. I was obligated to borrow at a very high interest rate to keep up with this particular customers' un reliability. A mistake maybe. December 2008, I got fed of the games, and I sent his file to a collection agency and cease doing any business with them ever. The customer did not respect any agreements hence, his file was turn over to Maitre Radolphe Maruca, my lawyer. This situation remained unresolved I was seeing no end to this dilemma, constantly having to borrow at that high interest. Finally threw many months of discussion between my lawyer and the customers lawyer, we came to an agreement out of court. I wrote off thousands of dollars. In September 2009, his final payment cleared my account. I was projecting positive vibes that if the economy stays as it was in September, I would be out of hot waters by the end of my fiscal year. I started seeing a drop in the economy in October up until January 2010. Since December, 2009, I have been on the phone, networking, trying to build up my company, and so far things are getting there, I had a few conversations that look very promising. I have full intension of paying your bills. January 2010, We looked over the books to find out that I am running with a deficit of 44K. I have been in constant contact with my lawyer, a trustee, my accountant and all my transporters. We are doing everything imaginable to avoid bankruptcy. I just want to pull the ship up. I have receive various job offers, and investor offer (blood sucking parasite types),.. This company is my pride and joy, and this entire situation has struck my pride deeply. I am a registered company, not incorporated. If the company goes down, so do I. I am also working with my accounted to obtain my Incorporation this year but I must settle. This situation has caused havoc on my health and state of mind. II count constantly, I suffer from anxiety attacks and insomnia. This situation has taken its toll on both my professional and personal life. I do not want to give up and I will not throw in the towel.
