Sadly, the majority of people will allow themselves to suffer freedom losses due the the irresponsible actions of the minority. The author merely has chosen to write from a negative view with no objectivity in presenting an analysis on the merits and characteristics of freedom. The absents of law (absolute freedom) would make civilized society impossible. He also writes as if our government is a monarchy rather than a representative democracy. This distorts the the reasoning suggesting there is a conspiracy movement is being perpetrated that would serve some sinister purpose. There may be a stupidity movement in congress but it could never be characterized as an organized attack on personal freedom. My boy, you are hopelessly lost. In my opinion, it is clear that he chose minimum wage laws because they are among the most widely accepted, or least objected to, infringements on liberty in America. Mosts people (incorrectly) see them as helpful to wage laborers and a necessity to stem the unbridled greed of corporations, and therefore quite acceptable.
