i disagree, i think the gov’t should ban all hand guns, as well as all of our other God given rights under the constitution. atleast if we know that’s what they are trying to do, they won’t have to sneak around behind the publics back.all i can say is good luck to em, if they try. they won’t get mine !!!

These arguments are far too coherent and cogent to be embraced by the emotionally dominated gun grab crowd. I especially like the black market argument. Just as in drug prohibition, where despite a HUGE effort for all of our lives, even people in prison can get drugs. Prohibitions have never in history worked. Why do they keep attempting them? Because they just SOUND so good.

I completely agree with the thesis
I mean think about it banning handguns would do no good what so ever. Criminals for one are not allowed to have any sort of gun in the first place so even if you pass a law banning handguns what’s to say criminals will all of the sudden decide to follow the law?
So if rightful citizens hand in their handgun then they will be handing in their way of keeping the playing field fair. They wont have a way to protect them self’s.
So banning handgun really would increase murder rates.

I am in favor of banning handguns when I see a gun fire itself and kill someone. Sounds pretty silly huh? What about all of the other activities that we enjoy that cause fatalities? Do we ban them as well? As far as I can tell you can’t leave your house without doing something that may cause death.

I am in favor of voting on the issue as a nation. Which is the way I see it for all issues in this country. VOTE!!!! Oh that’s right that isn’t something we have been doing on the issues in this country for a long time. Why don’t we just let the government take care of it? Sound good?

Better yet, why don’t we just take away all guns?

The heart of america has to beat a little harder with just the thought of such a nonsense proposition. The support for taking away rights from the constitution is an embarrasment to this country for those that support it.

Why isn’t anyone concerned over the real issues?

I am filing down the corners on my coffee table in my living room so that if I should fall and hit my head on the corner I will have a better chance of survival. Not to mention I am running for office and the first thing I am going to do is ban sharp corners on furniture so in house accidental fatalities can be reduced.

I agree totally with the thesis of this article. Banning any firearm will NOT decrease their use in the commission of a crime.
