We have a 2nd Amendment in order to protect us from the government as well as protect our life, liberty and pursuit of happiness. An unarmed populace is helpless to defend itself from tyrannical governments. I live in a country where it is illegal to own guns and we have one of the highest murder rates in the world, all by guns. Are we now to decide which amendments we are to keep and which ones to destroy? Which amendment is the most important and which is the least? The Patriot act took away what was left of our constitution and once our guns are gone, we will be unable to even protect ourselves.

Lawful people? Define that, please. Last I heard, the Bill of Rights says..."THE RIGHT OF THE PEOPLE TO KEEP AND BEAR ARMS SHALL NOT BE INFRINGED"...Perhaps I am not reading this correctly? Is it the standpoint of the government, as well as others, that the definition of "People" changes due to some act, or action, on ones part? Where in the Second Amendment does it stipulate the power possessed by others to determine who has rights by birth and who does not? Seems pretty cut and dried to me. It says "The People"...
