Whoever wrote this article is full of hot air and knows absolutely nothing about commercial fishing in Alaska. History has proven him dead wrong on every single count. Bristol Bay sockeye runs continue to be huge (41 million in 2008). The Bay fishery is one of the most stable and productive on the planet - not despite ADFG regulations, but because of ADFG regulations. In contrast, fully "privatized" fish populations are headed toward oblivion all over the planet. Greed kills - and kills absolutely. The collapse of the financial markets in 2008-9 is a perfect example. Friedmanism is a spent force, whether on Wall Street or on Bristol Bay. I know about the Bay. I've been fishing there since 1988.
