If taxation were referred to by its proper designation -- theft -- rather than a neutral-sounding euphemism, perhaps the light would begin to dawn on people. The state's method of raising revenue is theft of private property through coercion and threat of violence, plain and simple. The "services" provided in return are imposed by force, not by choice. Ordinarily people associate business done over the barrel of a gun with organized crime...until it comes to govt.

We are conditioned from birth to believe that such a structure of social organization is fair, just, and operates by impartial "rule of law" -- all illusions. This is the real damage done to society by the institution of taxation. Yet people such as myself, who believe that all human interaction should be voluntary rather than coerced are labeled by the masses as dangerous delusional whack jobs divorced from reality.

The Income Tax in America goes hand in hand with the creation of the Federal Reserve banking system. The object of the Federal Reserve fiat money creation system was to provide all the necessary financing for expanded government, especially the creation of the welfare/warfare state and other big government expenditures. The creation of such large amounts of fiat paper money and credit is very inflationary to the American Economy. In order to control that inflation the central bank can limit the amount of fiat currency it circulates,it can raise interest rates to return to the banks a certain portion of the money and credit in circulation and it can impose an Income Tax to "mop up" any excess purchasing power of the American people. In reality the IRS is nothing but a collection agency for the Federal Reserve banking system. It is no surprise that almost 100% of the income taxes that are collected today,on the Federal level, goes to pay the interest on the national debt. Perpetual debt and interest on that debt is the economic ball and chain around the legs of the American Taxpayer. If you close down the Federal Reserve and abolish the IRS, the economic means of financing big government will be destroyed and with that destruction will come the breaking of the chains on the legs of the American serfs.

The very worst consequence of the graduated income tax in America is not its negative impact on the economy, rather is is its devastating affect upon the integrity and morality of those who file Form 1040s. It is as Will Rogers commented back in 1924: "The income tax has made more liars out of the American people than golf has."

A very large study by the IRS a few years ago showed that when taxpayers received income from parties who were not required to report their payments to taxpayers to the IRS, most taxpayers did not include such payments as income on their tax returns. In other words, when they thought they could get away with it, American taxpayers cheated on their taxes, committing the crime of tax evasions. They put false information on their tax returns, and then swore under penalty of perjury that their returns were truthful. Given the opportunity to cheat on taxes, Americans in general will do so. The income tax has done this, and it may be more harmful to the nation than any other element of the graduated federal income tax.
