simple solution. increase the monthly deduction from the checks of all social security recipients.. i am almost ashamed of the pittance that is removed from my small s.s. check. i am so thankful for medicare and do not abuse the system but i see others whose only social outlet is visiting doctors each day of the week. is the public aware that those over the age of 65 cannot purchase full coverage insurance from any ins. co. in the usa? medicare is the monopoly. have other options ever been explored? remove the protection ins. cos. have from the anti-trust laws and permit ins. to be sold across state lines. free nmarket competition is the american way. don't even get me started on medicaid. it has been so corrupted that it should be scrapped and a new program put in place.

Karl Marx thought that revolution had to occur everywhere at once in order that the producers not jsut leave. Lenin disagreed. He proved that by restricting fleeing, preventing people from exiting the country, one could accomplish the same thing as though the revolutoin were ubiquitous.
Now the healthcare revolution is attempting to get started. It was designed to raise the prices on private insurance, incentivizing people to flee to Medicare and the government option, secondarily putting private insurers out of business. The government option got shut down by bloggers publishing the truth about it making it a political hot potato but leaving the restrictions that raise the cost for the private insurance. The public however now has nowhere to flee to. Likewise the low payment and the pending perpetual threat of an additional 21% cut for Medicare leaves doctors incentivized to specialize in non-Medicare patients, moving to all private insurance which is not being driven out of business and may not any time soon. The botched plan has resulted in an incentive for abandonment of Medicare by the medical profession, because they still DO have places to run to.

Is this any way to run a revolution?

Hi Donald,

You gave me something to think about, moving to China. Is this a real possibility?? I guess you have done it. Are you a Chinese citizen?

I live in China. This prospering land gave up central control of health care many years ago because they found that it doesn't work. Now the government encourages private health insurance, savings, and people helping people. It works. The Americans are whining for free health care and they will get it. They have already opted for destruction of their car industry, their real estate industry, their banks, and now they are in the process of destroying their dollar. They will succeed in that, also. Come to China. The people here love free enterprise, market economy, and self-reliance. This is the land of the future. America is on the way out. You know it.
