Cliches of Socialism

When a devotee of private property, free market, limited government principles states his position, he is inevitably confronted with a barrage of socialistic cliches. Failure to answer these has effectively silenced many a spokesman for freedom.

The Foundation for Economic Education is preparing a new series entitled Clichés of Socialism. These are printed on single 81/2"x 11" sheets. Single copies for the asking. Quantities at 1¢ each. Now ready are suggested answers to the following clichés:

1. "The more complex the society, the more government control we need.’”

2. "If we had no social security, many people would go hungry."

3. "The government should do for the people what the people are unable to do for themselves.’”

4. "The right to strike is conceded, but…”

5. "Too much government? Just what would you cut out?"

6. "The size of the national debt doesn’t matter because we owe it to ourselves."

7. "Why, you’d take us back to the horse and buggy.”

8. "The free market ignores the poor."

There Are 3 Responses So Far. »

  1. My responses are:

    1) Human beings are *NOT* a \"management problem\". They are a solution.
    2) How many generations survived before Social Security?
    3) Show me in the Constitution where it says that.
    4) Collective bargaining is putting your earning power into the hands of someone else. Talk about not being fair!
    5) Everything, but the military, the legislature, judiciary, and the Presidency.
    6) It *DOES* matter! There\’s only so much air to put into a balloon and there\’s so much debt that you can slide on before there\’s chaos.
    7) But, being on the federal plantation is okay, then?
    8) The free market doesn\’t ignore the poor. The poor ignore the poor.

  2. The leaders in fighting to save freedom in America rely on devine law. ‘our rights come from God,” they say.

They seldom, if ever, refer to “the Laws of Nature and Nature’s God.”

The laws of God have to be excepted as articles of faith. The Laws of Nature are evrywhere visible to all. They are the most powerful tool we have to defend freedom. God’s Law and Natural Law produce the same results when practiced by a nation, Freedom for all!
