I had the pleasure of reading this book in February or March of this year, and I must attest to its quality. It gives a good account on how the New Deal held back a true recovery. I think that it was limited, however, by its Monetarist bias. Obviously, I am coming from an Austrian bias, so I might be guilty of the same sin. Nevertheless, I believe his recounting of why the Great Depression took place is incorrect (he states that the Federal Reserve did not bolster bank's reserves, which is patently wrong). He also fails to cite either Anderson or Vedder and Gallaway on the reasons behind the 1937 Recession, instead falling back on the failures of the New Deal (which, admittedly, were factors, but not the only factors).

Apart from these supposed shortcomings, the book is quite good and is a valuable addition to any personal library.
