USA: No. 1 in Health Care?
In our drive to oppose even greater government intervention in health care, we must be sure not to misrepresent the current system as something close to the free market but for a few interventions. The current system is a corporatist nightmare, infested at the very root by government interference with freedom (usually in the form of privilege for big companies).As a reminder of what things can be like, I recommend Matt Welch’s Reason article, “Why I Prefer French Health Care.” It’s not an endorsement of the French system. It’s an indictment of the American monstrosity.
