The government spent $152 billion on the first stimulus package of 2008 and guess what folks, it didn't do anything positive. Now we're looking at a 2009 stimulus package that will be six or more times larger in scope and expense. And guess what? It will do nothing but intertwine government with private businesses -- like the car makers, rack up the deficit, increase the heavy hand of Uncle Sam in more and more aspects of our lives. It will be the start of the end of a somewhat free society as we currently know it and the dawn of a new era of big European-style social programs and new deals that will raise taxes, result in inflation, and rob Americans of their earnings and equity and freedom. God helps us.

Leaping off a cliff without a parachute is a bold and swift act, too, but I wouldn't recommend it. Maybe that's why he wants to "bind us together," for if the sane among us could opt out of this economic nonsense, the silly and destructive "stimulus" plan would be a dead letter.
