Freeman columnist Thomas Szsaz blows the lid off the healthcare debate in this Wall Street Journal op-ed. Bottom line:
If we persevere in our quixotic quest for a fetishized medical equality we will sacrifice personal freedom as its price. We will become the voluntary slaves of a “compassionate” government that will provide the same low quality health care to everyone.
By the way, Tom has just published his latest book, Antipsychiatry: Quackery Squared.

No one advocates equal medicine as an *outcome.* What universal health care supporters want is equal opportunity/equal access to health care. That way millions of people don’t have to lack health insurance and basic care. That’s not slavery. That’s civilization.
