Happy Birthday "I, Pencil"!
For those of you who haven’t noticed the birthday announcement on our homepage, “I, Pencil” by Leonard Read, turns 50 this week.
“Eloquent. Extraordinary. Timeless. Paradigm-shifting. Classic. Half a century after it first appeared, Leonard Read’s “I, Pencil” still evokes such adjectives of praise. Rightfully so, for this little essay opens eyes and minds among people of all ages. Many first-time readers never see the world quite the same again.”
- Lawrence W. Reed
President of FEE
You can download a pdf of our commemorative brochure here (text only version here). It has an Introduction by Lawrence Reed and an Afterword by Milton Friedman. As Reed said, it certainly is “timeless”. So go ahead and give it another read and marvel at the beauty of the invisible hand.
